Brief description of the product/ technology:
Mudra is a touchscreen Keyboard for blind users to type in Malayalam. It helps blind users to type on flat touchscreen keyboards with the help of Voice and Haptic feedbacks. This keyboard runs on Android platform and can run on any low cost smartphone making it affordable for the blind users who cant afford to get braille devices. Based on the testing conducted with blind users, it was proven effective and blind users could type at a speed of 1.05 words per minute after 3 hours of training. If it reaches people, this can also open the doors to the possibility that the illiterate in India can also type in their native language using the same keyboard.
This can help blind users to communicate and start using touchscreen mobile phones to do day to day activities like typing an SMS in their local language, Saving a contact etc.
