Name of the Technology : Electronic Narrator for Visually Impaired
Disability Sector : Visual Impairments
Function : Blind and Low Vision aids
Category of research : New technology/product (not existing in the country)
Brief description of the product/ technology:
This project was designed to scan and read the matter in the scanned document for a visually impaired person. Currently existing models for visually impaired provide a facility of text to speech conversion, where text will be in the form of word document. But it is impossible for the person to read a paper which is not in Braille. To convert every physical paper into Braille is something next to impossible. Both Image to Text and Text to Image Converters are available in market, but the package of converting an image to speech isn‘t available, at least at a reasonable price.
The advancement which can be bought to this project is reading LED display boards. Leading to an
implementation into a further smaller device enables the disabled person employable ina Gas Station or in Hospitality services where LED Displays are used.
